When adding people/phone numbers to a subscription list, there are some important things to remember.
Request a keyword
If you know which keyword you want to use and it has already been created, continue to the next step.
If you do not have a specific keyword already established, please request one here:

Different Types of Keywords
Keywords are essentially a series of letters or words that someone texts to your 10-digit or shortcode number. Keywords in mobileAxept function differently and yet can be used together.
-
Giving Keywords
These keywords are specific to financial funds/accounts and should only be reserved for donations. The donors who have texted these words opt in by texting the keyword. The list is a good, viable list of text subscribers. All numbers are verified. -
ConnectNow Keywords (Text Forms)
These keywords function as registration forms or visitor cards, and are connected to additional information that a person enters when completing the text form. Those who have texted these keywords opt in by texting the keyword. The list is a good, viable list of text subscribers. All numbers are verified. -
ReachNow Keywords (Text Messaging)
These keywords are for promotional use and specify a subscription to text messaging. If a person texts the keyword, they opt into text messaging as a subscriber.
See below for additional ways to add subscribers to the list.
Opt-In
The best practice is to ALWAYS get permission from phone numbers to send messages. This can be done in several ways. For compliance, you must have permission from the device/cell phone holder.
1. The best practice - promote your keyword!
A subscriber texts a keyword to subscribe to your ReachNow list
example: "text NORTHOAKSNOW to 28950" to subscribe to lists.
An opt-in by texting a keyword verifies the cell phone number.
2. Secondary option - upload a list with an opt-in response
When you select a keyword and upload a list or individual phone numbers using the Manage Lists option, every phone number upload will receive an immediate message
"Do you want to receive text messages from ___________? Reply YES to opt-in."
All uploaded numbers start in PENDING status.
-
PENDING status = they will remain there until they text YES from their device.
The number will not receive text messages from that list until they respond. - ACTIVE status = they have replied YES and are now able to receive messages.
- UNSUBSCRIBED status = they have opted out of messaging by texting NO, STOP, etc.
3. Third option - upload a list WITHOUT opt-in response.
The mobileAxept Tier 1 support team can help Enterprise Clients upload a list without opt-in. This may be an added feature on your account. Please inquire by reaching out to our team at support@mobileaxept.com.
Compliance note: Your organization must have permission to send to these numbers. Please include a form or some information on your website, sorted from your database, or previous permission to send text messages on another phone number or platform. Have information that mentions that by providing their phone number, a person agrees to receive text messages from your organization.
Message and data rates may apply. (msg&data rates may apply)
Reply HELP for help (For help, text HELP)
Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time. (To opt-out, reply STOP)
We highly encourage you to have this compliance information visible in multiple places. mobileAxept will not ask you for this information. However, your future ability to send text messages may rest on you having this information. Please keep accurate permission records for auditing purposes, should you need it.
It's in your best interest to provide a clean list.
- Please provide a CSV file (or Excel file) with only these columns:
first name | last name | email address | phone number - An email address is not required, but it does help the system connect to a donor account.
- Please verify that the phone numbers are formatted the same, allowing only valid 10-digit numbers in the USA and Canada. We do not provide text messaging outside the US at this time.
When sending messages, you are charged for the number of messages sent - not received, and not specific to deliverability. So, having a good, clean list is helpful! An upload list is only as good as the data you provide.
Reminder: Provide Opt-Out instructions to messages whenever possible.
If you have enough characters, we recommend you add "Reply STOP to unsubscribe" at the end of your messages. This can be shortened or abbreviated - rplySTOP2stop - rplySTOP2cxl
As always - if you have any questions, we're here to help! Reach out by clicking the Green "Request Support" button on the main page in the mobileAxept portal - or email us at support@mobileaxept.com.
